Over the course of his career, Paul has served as lead counsel in more than $200M in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) transactions. He has also represented clients in connection with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) transactions, multifamily housing bond deals, and other state and federal tax credit and incentive transactions.
Since the enactment of the Opportunity Zone program, Paul has been a speaker about the program at conferences and events. He also has advised several clients about the impact of the program and how it might be used to finance real estate and operating businesses.
Paul is the founder and owner of Paul Jones Law, LLC. Paul focuses his law practice on real estate tax appeals, exemptions and incentives in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. He primarily represents developers and owners of commercial real estate in the Midwest. He has a strong track record of proven results in litigation and in obtaining favorable results for clients in settlement.
Paul frequently speaks at conferences and seminars about property tax matters, community and economic development, and tax incentives. Prior to founding Paul Jones Law, LLC, Paul was an equity partner in Ice Miller LLP's Tax Group and oversaw the firm's property tax practice.
Paul is a past board member of Near North Development Corporation, the Decatur Township Educational Foundation, and the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs Alumni Association. His pro bono efforts focus on assisting nonprofits and community development corporations with corporate governance and tax matters.
Paul received his bachelor of science in public affairs, with distinction, from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1998. He earned his juris doctorate from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis, graduating magna cum laude in 2001.
